Earthquake in Ecuador

23 Apr 2016, Posted by manonkoningstein@hotmail.com in

Sivin´s Manon Koningstein was on the Ecuadorian Coast when all of a sudden the ground started shaking and the electricity went of, after a few minutes it was over, but the consequences will be felt for many, many more years to come. Having been eyewitness of the chaos and devastation in the cities of Manta, Portoviejo and Calceta, we have seen the many, many buildings that have fallen apart, families sleeping on mattresses outside the pile of stones that once was their house, the first funerals were held, etc.

The first necessities are water, the Ecuadorian coast is a hot place, and without water, many more will not survive the aftermath, but now we are also thinking of next necessities such as soap, medicines, pots and pans to cook, food for the animals, etc. Manon and her friend Miranda are now helping to pack thousands of first necessity kits for those left without a home and receiving donations from everywhere. Sivin is working together with Rebecca Adventure Travel in Quito to receive national and international donations and get the products that the affected communities need most, both now and to build up their lives again. Do you want to help us, please shoot us a message at sivincommunications@gmail.com or www.rebeccaadventuretravel.com.

All donations go 100% to the affected people in Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales.
